世界银行-关于在低收入和中等收入国家设计和实施优质早期学习环境原则的指导说明(英)

Strengthening the learning environment in Early Childhood Education (ECE) is crucial for enhancing children’s learning experiences. A quality learning environment in ECE is characterized by dynamic opportunities for children to interact, collaborate, and explore. This Guidance note guides teachers and schools on ways to design and implement quality learning environments in ECE settings. It outlines key principles of quality in the learning environment and illustrates elements of quality that can be implemented in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) with examples from Egypt, Tanzania, and Jordan. It also describes what these quality elements might look like in an ECE setting and how educators can use the environment in a daily routine. Finally, this note identifies key considerations that policymakers and World Bank teams can apply to support and strengthen the quality learning environment.Guidance Note on Designing and Implementing Quality Early Learning Environment Principles in Low-and Middle-Income CountriesNo. 5 | November 2024Education NoteNevine El Nahass, Ayah Jarrah, and Magreth MzirayBox 1. Well-structured routines are adapted to the diverse needs of the children.• Everyday materials: Utilizing everyday materials for instructional time encourages practical learning, where children actively engage with concepts through play and creativity. To strengthen the quality of the early learning environment, countries should conduct a comprehensive needs assessment to identify quality gaps in both structure and process and to inform targeted enhancements. The following are some quality elements that could be evaluated:• For low-resource contexts, identify low-cost options to improve the learning setting, such as utilizing local materials for teaching aids, optimizing the outdoors, and creating flexible
